When will I receive my travel documents?

All your tour documents, including train tickets, will be sent to you by email at least 7 days before travel. They are in electronic format, so all you need to do is download them to your smart device, show and go.

If you would like your documents earlier, please let us know, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your requirements.

You may need to download the Scotrail App to a compatible IOS or Android device to access your train tickets on some packages. Complete instructions will be provided if this applies to the tour you have booked.

Do I need to print my e-tickets and vouchers?

No, all the vouchers and tickets issued as part of our packages are electronic, so there is no need to print them. Just download them to your smart device, and you are good to go.

Will someone meet me in Scotland?

As the packages we offer are semi-independent, you won’t be met on arrival in Edinburgh or Glasgow. Please don’t be concerned as the hotels used in our programme are just a short walk from the railway station, and complete directions are available if required.

One of our travel experts will offer assistance, should you require it, 7 days a week.

If you have a question that isn’t covered by our FAQ’s, please contact us, and one of our team will give you a personalised response

Where are your hotels located?

All the hotels we use are carefully selected for their city centre location convenient for sightseeing and onward travel connections. Close to attractions and restaurants, everything is on your doorstep.

What kind of room should I choose?

The terminology used in the United Kingdom can vary from other parts of the world, so here is a description of the types of accommodation that you can book for your party.

Single room – this is a room for one person

Twin room – accommodates two people sleeping in separate beds

Double room – this is a room for two people sharing one bed

Family room – accommodates three people in a double (2 people) and a single bed (1 person)

If you are travelling with a larger party, obtaining connecting or adjacent rooms may be possible. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

What does semi-independent mean?

Our rail tours are the perfect blend of organised sightseeing and relaxing free time so you can follow your own interests. You have all the benefits of individual travel with the security of knowing that all your travel arrangements have been made by our expert team of travel planners.

What should I wear?

The weather in Scotland is famous for being unpredictable. We recommend packing layered clothing so you can add or remove items as circumstances change. Certainly, bring a rain jacket just in case and comfortable walking shoes if you want to explore more of your new surroundings.

FAQs-Luggage

How much luggage can I bring?

Pack lightly is our best advice. You are allowed to bring one large suitcase and a carry-on bag per person on the train. Please bear in mind that you will be responsible for stowing your bags whilst on the train and there will be a short walk to and from your accommodation in Scotland.

How many people will be on tour?

Our semi-independent packages mean that you will be travelling with your own party on the train to and from Scotland. In most cases, you’ll explore Edinburgh (and Glasgow) by hop-on, hop-off bus so you can visit the attractions that appeal to you. We’ll provide you with official guides so you can plan your city visit in advance.

On the included tours, you’ll be travelling with a group of between 16 and 35 fellow passengers.

Where is the departure point?

Trains usually depart from London Kings Cross or London Euston railway stations in Central London. Please check your tour documentation and rail tickets for specific information.

How long before the train departs should I be at the station?

We would recommend being at the railway station at least 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time of your train. You will already have your train tickets, so as soon as the departure board shows that your train is boarding, you can go straight to the platform.

Are we all seated together on the train?

Our expert travel planners will always try to seat all the members of your party together. Please note that the choice of seats will be restricted if you book at the last minute, so we will reserve the best available seats.
